Overview
The Community Wellbeing Service (CWS) supports children and young people aged 5–18 (and up to 25 with additional needs) who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges, such as anxiety, low mood, or emotional distress. Commissioned by Somerset ICB, the service offers flexible, early help support in schools and local community settings across Somerset.
Our Approach
We focus on early intervention, using evidence-based tools like Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (LI-CBT) to help young people build confidence, resilience, and positive coping skills. We tailor our work to each individual’s needs, and we never turn a young person away. Where the Community Wellbeing Service is not the right fit, we help them find the right support elsewhere.
Our Team
The team includes qualified Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs), Wellbeing Support Practitioners, and Early Years staff. Our practitioners are trained in a range of techniques to support children, young people, and families. The team also includes senior clinical supervisors, safeguarding leads, and trainees supported through professional development pathways.
Accessing Support
Support can be requested directly by young people aged 13+, or by parents, carers, and professionals (e.g., teachers, GPs). We offer 1:1 sessions, group support, school-based workshops, and online resources.
Referrals can be made through our website.
