Young Somerset’s Jigsaw Service provides dedicated support for young people who have recently been admitted to the hospital due to mental health challenges or low emotional well-being. This service helps young people and their families navigate their journey toward recovery, reducing the likelihood of readmission and empowering them to make informed decisions for positive change.

Our Approach

Jigsaw is built on a youth work approach, ensuring that support is personalised, strengths-focused, and centred around the young person’s needs. Our experienced youth workers engage young people through 1:1 support and activities, fostering confidence, resilience, and coping strategies that help them manage their mental health.

We recognise that mental health recovery extends beyond the individual, which is why our team also offers guidance, advocacy, and signposting for families. We work to ensure that families feel heard, supported, and equipped with the resources needed to assist their child’s recovery.

Key Aims of the Jigsaw Service

  • Reducing hospital readmissions by empowering young people with coping strategies and self-management skills.
  • Providing holistic support that includes mental, emotional, and social well-being.
  • Advocating for young people and their families in situations where they feel unheard or unsupported.
  • Building confidence and resilience through activities that promote self-expression and personal growth.

Our youth workers are committed to walking alongside young people, offering the encouragement and tools they need to move forward positively.

Please note that the Jigsaw referral pathway is only available to the CAMHS Liaison and CAMHS RAFT teams and therefore it is not possible to make a referral via the Young Somerset website.
