Umbrella is a safe and welcoming space for young people aged 13-17 to have fun, meet new people, and try new experiences through youth groups and one-to-one mentoring. We currently run this service in Taunton, Wellington, Bridgwater, and Street.
What We Offer
- Evening youth groups where young people can engage in social and creative activities.
- One-to-one mentoring if required to offer personal guidance and support.
- Young person-led activities, allowing participants to shape group projects based on their interests.
How We Work
At Young Somerset, we believe in youth-led support, ensuring that young people are at the heart of what we do. We take the time to build trusting, open, and honest relationships, working with young people rather than doing things for them or to them.
Through our youth work approach, we help young people identify what they want to change in their lives and explore the best ways to achieve their goals. We also connect them with additional services and resources for further support.
Additional Opportunities
Young people involved in Umbrella can also:
- Become young leaders to help shape the service.
- Join our steering group to have a say in decision-making.
- Access other Young Somerset services that suit their needs.
